How the sorting works

Each level presents a set of bolts with colored nuts on them. Clicking a bolt moves its nut across to a different bolt, and two rules decide whether that is allowed. First, nuts can only be stacked with others of the same color. Second, the bolt receiving the nut must have enough room for it. Within those limits you shuffle nuts around until everything is sorted by type.

Avoiding a dead end

The mechanics stay simple, but the levels get harder the further you go, and the description says you will need your wits to keep track of which nuts and bolts belong together. The trap to avoid is getting stuck. Since every move needs a matching color and free space, filling bolts without a plan can leave you with no move the rules allow. Before sending a nut anywhere, look at where it could go next, and try to keep some room free so you still have somewhere to put the nuts you need to move later.

Should a level jam anyway, a restart is always available. The game also hands out free props to help you through levels you are struggling with.

Nuts Bolts Sort presents itself as brain training and stress relief in one. It pairs its puzzles with attractive visuals, calming sound effects and ASMR touches, and it pitches itself as something to play after a stressful day, when you want a challenge that still feels calm.
