About Explainable Minesweeper

Explainable Minesweeper keeps the classic hunt for hidden mines but takes away the coin-flip moments that ruin so many boards. Every grid can be cracked with careful reasoning, and when you get stuck a Hint button walks you through the logic.

No more lucky clicks

Anyone who has played the original Minesweeper knows the feeling: you reach a spot where two squares look exactly the same, and the only way forward is to pick one and hope. Explainable Minesweeper removes those moments entirely. Instead of trusting chance, you can always reach the answer by reasoning it out.

That does not mean the puzzles hand themselves to you. The game deliberately keeps its boards from becoming too easy. The trick is to look one step beyond the obvious, working out what a square must be by thinking about what the next move would reveal. That kind of deduction is what makes each board satisfying to finish.

Learn from the hints

The standout feature here is the Hint button. Rather than simply marking a safe square, it gives you as full an explanation as possible of why that move works. If you have ever wondered how expert players read a tricky corner, this is a friendly way to learn their thinking, one board at a time.

The explanations come in nine languages, so players from many places can follow the reasoning in a language they are comfortable with.

How it plays on your device

On a desktop you can use left and right mouse clicks in the familiar way, or switch to Input Mode if you prefer. On mobile, touch controls work through Input Mode, which lets you choose what each tap does. Either way, you can enjoy a fair, logical take on a puzzle classic right in your browser.

Controls
On a computer, use the left and right mouse buttons, or switch to Input Mode. On a phone or tablet, tap the screen and use Input Mode to pick what each tap does.

FAQ

Will I ever have to guess?
No. The game is built so that you never face a pure 50/50 choice where luck decides the outcome.
Does that make the boards easy?
Not at all. The game also stops boards from turning too simple, so you often need to think one step further ahead to find the safe square.
What does the Hint button do?
It gives a detailed explanation of the next logical move, and that explanation is available in nine languages.
