Girls games

Dress-up is the heart of this shelf, with around 80 games in which you pick clothes, hairstyles and accessories for a character, a doll or a couple and then admire the finished look. Close to 80 more are general titles tagged for girls, covering baby care, parties and home life. Colouring and makeup come next, then hair salons, fashion design, drawing and cooking, with a few doctor games in which a patient's teeth or throat need attention. The shelf holds about 225 games in all.

Idol Livestream: Doll Dress Up is typical of the style: you choose clothes, hairstyles and makeup for a doll, then take the look to a fashion contest or a livestream where viewers react. My Town Home: Family Playhouse is a two-storey online dollhouse where you cook, garden and change outfits. Baby Hazel Bed Time walks a toddler through her evening routine, from brushing her teeth to a shower.

The name follows the way these games have long been labelled, but nothing about them is limited to one audience; anyone who enjoys styling, colouring or running a small salon will find plenty to do. A dress-up can be finished in a few minutes, while colouring books and dollhouses can stay open for as long as you like. Controls are mostly point and click, or a tap on a phone. Every title is free, and because it plays in the browser there is nothing to install on a shared family computer.
