A house to fill

The game is set in one large house on two floors, with children’s rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a room for the parents and a backyard, along with other places besides. The kitchen is roomy, with a big table for the family and a smaller one sized for the kids, so there is space to cook meals for everyone. Out back, you can play in the sandbox, bounce on the trampoline or set up a picnic. Most activities are open from the very start, so you can begin a story without unlocking anything first.

Your story, your rules

There is no set plot. The game makes you the author: you choose which family lives in the house, pick outfits that suit the scene and decide what happens next. Switch on the TV or the computer, make smoothies, bake in the oven or plant flowers, and any of it can become part of the tale you are telling. That open-ended freedom is what a sandbox dollhouse is for, and it means the same rooms can hold a different story every time you play.

Mini-games, prizes and cards

Mini-games break things up and earn you a little extra to spend. Two are ready from the beginning, popping the right balloons and washing the teddy bear, and more unlock as you go, along with new characters for your stories.

Keep an eye out for the robot vacuum that roams the house, because it carries a wheel of fortune you can spin for a prize. There are cards to collect as well, and gathering them fills in the pieces of a family album. The game shows you the basics at the start, and sound is optional, though it adds to the feeling of home life. It is free to play in the browser on a computer or a phone.
