About Two Player games

Sitting next to your opponent changes a game: every lucky shot gets a reaction, and a rematch starts the moment someone asks for one. About 50 games are on this shelf, nearly all of them tagged two-player, and most fall into three kinds: co-op platformers, where two characters have to help each other through a level; short head-to-head duels; and classic board games such as chess and backgammon.

Red and Blue Stickman Huggy is a good example of the co-op kind: two stickman siblings collect keys and unlock doors together, using double jumps to get through each level. Drunken Duel is a wild west gunfight between two floppy ragdolls, each controlled with a single button. 12 MiniBattles packs a dozen small pixel-art contests, from sports to duels, into one game, with a spinner choosing what comes next, which makes it a handy pick when nobody can agree.

On a shared keyboard one player usually takes the WASD keys and the other the arrow keys, so a full-size keyboard gives both of you room. Nearly all of them expect a wide screen. Some, such as Block vs Block II, can also be played against the computer, which helps when the second player has not arrived yet. Being free browser games with nothing to install, they are just as easy to start on a friend's laptop.
