About Color Pixels - Coloring by Numbers

Color Pixels is a relaxed color-by-number game. You open a black-and-white picture, choose colors from a palette and fill in the matching numbered areas until the image comes to life, on a computer or on a phone or tablet.

From black and white to color

Every picture starts out with no color at all, divided into areas that each carry a number. The palette along the lower edge of the screen holds the colors you need. Choose one, find the areas that correspond to it and fill them in, then move on to the next. Because each area already tells you which color it wants, there is no guesswork involved; the task is finding every spot that belongs to the color you are on. Keep going and the black-and-white image turns into a finished, vivid picture.

Finding your way around

Pictures are grouped by category in a gallery, so the first step is to open a category and choose the image you want to work on. Once it is open, zooming is the key to the fine details. Move in with the slider along the top of the screen, a pinch on a touch screen or the mouse wheel on a computer, fill the small areas, then zoom back out to see how the whole picture is coming along.

Boosters

If you would like to speed things up, the game offers boosters: special tools that make the coloring go faster. The game presents them as a way to get the best results.

A way to unwind

Color Pixels is pitched as a calm corner of art and quiet, and as an easy way to relax. It is free, it works on phones and computers alike, and it is built so that anyone who follows the numbers can end up with a beautiful picture.
