How a game plays out

You are given a set of blocks to choose from. Pick one, drag it to a spot on the board and drop it. Whenever your placements fill a complete line, either straight across or straight down, that line is removed and you are awarded points. Every clear does two jobs at once: it adds to your score and it hands back space for the pieces still to come.

Thinking before you drop

The real decisions happen before you let go of a block. Each placement changes what the board can accept next, so a piece dropped in the most obvious spot can leave you short of room a few moves later. Instead of asking only where the current block fits, ask where the next ones could go. Keeping open space for several kinds of shape is safer than relying on one particular piece to arrive.

Rows and columns

Lines clear in both directions, so columns deserve as much attention as rows. A column that is almost full is just as close to clearing as a row in the same state, and watching both gives you more ways to free up space when the board starts to feel crowded.

When it ends

A game finishes once no new block will fit anywhere on the board. That leaves one simple question: how long can you keep the board open, and how high can you push the score before it fills? Every line you clear buys a little more room to keep going.
