Breaking free

Each escape leads through colourful places full of traps and puzzles, with checkpoints along the route. Getting out depends on the things you can interact with, and the controls for that are kept simple: keys, buttons, levers and doors are all handled with E on a computer. There are AI monsters to avoid as you go, and a cast of quirky NPCs that, according to the description, bring both humour and difficulty to every run. The routes to freedom are not always in plain sight either. Hidden paths lead out, and secrets, messages and prizes are tucked away for anyone who explores.

Moves and abilities

Walking and jumping are only the start. The description lists dashes, double jumps, size changes and gravity shifts among the ways to boost your run, and there are rare surprises to find and powerful abilities to unlock as you go. Magical portals take you on to new escape challenges once you step through them, so one finished course is not the end of the road. You can also choose a character skin, along with pets that come with you on each escape.

Playing together

This is a multiplayer game built for cooperation. You can join forces with friends from around the world, chat while you play and work together to find the way out. On a computer, the mouse wheel zooms the view in and out, which is handy for looking over a location before you move through it, Shift brings up the cursor and Tab pauses. On a phone, the game’s own interface takes care of all of that.
