Building a track

Every character in Sprunki makes its own sound, and the ones you can use wait at the bottom of the screen. Drag one onto any Sprunki and its part is added to the mix. Keep going and the parts pile up into a blend of rhythm and melody that becomes your track. The game casts you as the composer, and whatever you end up with counts as a piece of your own. What it suggests aiming for is harmony: Sprunkis combined so that their sounds work together, with the process of getting there meant to be the fun part.

Mixing without rules

Sprunki makes a selling point of freedom. Nothing restricts which characters go together, and the game speaks of hundreds of sound combinations waiting to be found. What it asks of you is to hunt for the ones that suit you, choosing rhythms and melodies until the mix has a style of its own. Adding characters one at a time is a simple way to learn what each sound brings before you start stacking them. The mood is meant to be relaxed, and the game presents itself as a place for laid-back musical experiments.

Finding the secret scene

There is more to uncover than the mixes you build on purpose. Certain combinations of characters unlock a secret scene, complete with hidden mixes and bonus effects. The way to reach it is to try combinations you have not heard yet, so if you keep returning to the same favorites, bring in characters you have not used together before.

On phones and computers

Sprunki plays online on both computers and smartphones. iPhone owners who hear nothing get one specific piece of advice from the game: switch notifications on with the special button on the phone.
