The challenges

The description names six of the trials, and it offers them as a sample rather than a complete list. In Savage Hammers you need to get out of the way before a hammer lands on you. Math Spikes is a quick maths test: solve each equation fast and get it right, or you are out. Falling Tiles punishes standing still, because a tile you stay on for too long may collapse under you. Building Madness piles brick blocks up in your path, so you have to dodge them and keep climbing quickly or end up trapped. Dancing Tiles works like musical chairs with colours, since you must be on the right one when the music stops. Deadly Climb sends you up a mountain while you dodge enormous rolling balls.

Moving and surviving

Nearly all of these come down to where you stand and when you move. You walk with W, A, S and D, jump with Space, crouch with C and attack with the left mouse button. Keep moving on tiles that can give way, and in Building Madness start climbing as soon as the bricks begin to stack up. The maths round is the exception, a test of quick thinking rather than quick feet, and in Dancing Tiles it helps to know where each colour sits before the music cuts out.

One out of a thousand

The whole thing is framed as a contest. You start as one of 1,000 players, only the strongest make it through, and the grand prize goes to whoever proves to be number one. On mobile devices the same actions are handled by on-screen controls, so a keyboard is not needed to take part.
