Destruction is the main attraction. Cars in this game break down with striking realism, and a powerful impact can send doors, hoods and wheels flying off. Crashing is not a failure here but the whole idea, and the game invites you to cause as many collisions as you like. When a car has taken too much punishment, K repairs it and R puts it back in service.

A city built for wrecking

The abandoned city is a vast open world, scattered with ramps, presses and more tools built for smashing cars. There are also unique crash test sites to seek out. Other cars speed along the roads, and you can take them on in spectacular crashes of your own making. Crazy jumps, collisions and free driving all sit side by side, and nothing forces you to pick one over another.

Tuning your ride

You can also make a car your own. The body can be repainted, the details given a colour of their own, and the wheels resized and realigned, so the cars you create can each look different. Customisation covers colour, wheels and style. The game sums up its spirit in three words: destroy, build and race.

Watching the wreckage

Two keys are worth learning early. B slows down time, so a collision can play out in slow motion, and C switches the camera, giving you another view of the damage. Shift turns on the nitro, Space brakes hard, and N swaps in a different car whenever you want a change. On a phone, all of these actions move to buttons on the screen.
