Tiles in three dimensions

Most tile-matching games lay their pieces out flat. Prism Match 3D stacks them into a structure of prism cubes instead, and part of the puzzle is simply seeing it properly. You rotate and zoom to look at the layers, because a tile can only be picked once nothing else is covering it. Turning the structure to reveal what is hidden behind the front face is a big part of every level.

The tray of seven

Every tile you tap drops into a tray on the screen. When three identical tiles are in it together, they merge and disappear, and their slots become free again. The tray holds only seven tiles, so each tap is a small bet: a tile with no partners yet takes a slot that you might need later on. Watching what is already in the tray is as important as studying the board.

Help when you need it

The game gives you three tools for tight spots. Undo takes a move back, Retrieve pulls up to three tiles out of the tray, and Shuffle rearranges the board to open up new matches. The game describes itself as simple to pick up and tough to master, a puzzle that calls for logic, timing and focus while still being a relaxing way to exercise memory and observation, with new stages to work through as you go.

Tips

• Turn the structure every few taps; a match may be hiding at the back.
• Avoid filling the tray with single tiles that have no pairs in sight.
• Save Retrieve and Shuffle for the moments when the tray is nearly full.
