Two tallies, two kinds of mistake

Vegan Quest keeps your score and your lives apart, and each one punishes a different slip. A vegan item you catch is worth 20 points, while one that gets past you costs 5. Lives are separate: you have three, and every non-vegan item you gather takes one.

That split shapes most of your choices. A miss is a small dent, and a single catch pays back four of them. A wrong catch is far more serious, because three lives do not go far. So when chasing a vegan item would carry you into something non-vegan, letting it drop is the cheaper mistake: five points instead of a life.

Levels, speed and refills

The first level is gentle. As your score grows you move up through the levels, and each new one sends the food down faster than the one before, so a pace that feels relaxed at the start becomes a real test of reactions later on.

Reaching a new level also refills your three lives. That makes every level-up a fresh start, and a run that has lost two lives early can still recover if you keep scoring until the next level arrives. Points are what carry you to the next refill, and every miss hands 5 of them back, pushing that refill a little further away.

Keyboard, mouse or touch

On a computer, both the arrow keys and the mouse move you from side to side. S begins a game, P pauses and R starts over. On a phone, touch or swipe to move, and on-screen buttons take the place of the start, pause and restart keys. With the speed rising every level, the pause is worth remembering when you need a moment.
