DTA 6 drops you into a 3D first-person sandbox in the spirit of Grand Theft Auto, made light enough to play casually in a browser. Its people are geometric ragdolls who talk in memes, you are the only one in full control of your limbs, and what you do with that is up to you.

A town with no script

DTA 6 hands you a sparsely populated town and very little instruction. There is no direction to follow and no list of objectives; the idea is to explore and find your own entertainment for as long as you like. You begin with a small amount of money, and the game nudges you to earn more, whether from the people you meet or from places around town. Cash, vehicles and weapons are all easy to come by, so trying the game in different ways takes little effort.

Crime has a price

Committing crimes earns you a Wanted Level, displayed as stars. The higher it climbs, the more police come after you. You can bring it back down by fighting them off, but if you are ever taken down, you have to start over. Saving is done through your phone, which is also where you can buy vehicles or, in certain ways, pick up large amounts of money.

Getting around town

Vehicles around town are yours to take, and once inside you can drive wherever you like. Shops offer various goods and are also somewhere to turn when you need money. People walk the streets, but some of them turn aggressive if you approach too closely or annoy them, and anyone you defeat drops money you can collect. Your stats sit at the top of the screen, in the left and right corners, and if a situation gets too chaotic, you can slow down time.

Tips for staying alive

Start by studying the map in the corner of the screen, since it highlights useful spots, weapon shops among them. Keep your distance from people unless you are ready to fight: once one of them starts attacking, a whole group can follow. And if the police become a nuisance, get into a vehicle, which shields you and gives you a means to strike back.

التحكم: Walk forward and back with W and S or the Up and Down arrows, turn with A and D or Left and Right, look and aim with the mouse, fire with the left button, aim precisely with the right and switch weapons with the wheel. Q brings up your phone and F slows time. E gets you in or out of a vehicle, which you drive with the same movement keys, Ctrl for the handbrake and Shift for nitro.
